Access Fund Climbing Preservation Grants Coming to a Crag Near You!
Need a parking lot for your favorite crag? What about a new trail? In the middle of a large stewardship project? AF’s Climbing Preservation Grants could help accomplish your mission.
The Access Fund Climbing Preservation Grant program funds projects that preserve or enhance climbing access and opportunities and conserve the climbing environment throughout the United States. Since 1991, we have provided over a million dollars in grants to organizations and individuals that identify and work on the root causes of local climbing access and conservation issues and that approach issues with a commitment to long-term change. Because positive change typically occurs through a strong grassroots movement, our funding focuses on organizations that build a strong base of local climber support and activism.
There are three rounds of grants issued each year. Grant applications must be received by March 1, June 15, or September 15 to be considered for funding in the associated grant cycle.
If you would like to receive an Access Fund grant your mission should be quantifiable, your plan should have specific goals, objectives and action items, and should include measures for evaluating success. Because the Access Fund is a member-supported non-profit organization, we fund groups with missions aligned with ours and grant objectives that further that mission because that is how our small grants are most effective. Most grants are in the range of $1,000 to $4,000. The Access Fund considers requests for over $10,000 but these projects should have national significance and utilize matching funds. If you are requesting more than $10,000 please call the Access Fund before submitting your application.
