Acquisition History

Denny Cove, Tennessee - 2016

Denny Cove, a 685-acre parcel in eastern Tennessee, was acquired and opened to climbing thanks to a collaboration with Southeastern Climbers Coalition (SCC), Access Fund, Land Trust for Tennessee, the Conservation Fund, and the State of Tennessee. Denny Cove features over 150 climbing routes and three miles of cliff line and preserves scenic views, water quality, and critical plant and wildlife habitat. The $1.2 million acquisition required loans from both Access Fund and the Conservation Fund. SCC temporarily held the property in 2016 to complete stewardship improvements and kick off fundraising. The property is now permanently conserved as part of South Cumberland State Park.
