Join the Ohio Climbers Coalition for their first Adopt a Crag of the year at Mad River Gorge & Nature Preserve. OCC will have tools and some personal protective equipment to use (work gloves, eye and ear protection), but all volunteers should wear closed toed shoes and clothes that you are comfortable working in as you will be hauling tools and supplies down into the gorge and working with hand/power tools during the construction process.
The plan is to start construction of a belay platform and stairs at a new area near the old go kart property that the Clark County Park District acquired last year.
Volunteers should park and meet at the old go kart property (this is the area directly across from C&S Tree Service on the same side of the road as the main Mad River Gorge park entrance) at 10am.
If the event has to be cancelled due to weather, they will post information on their social media pages (so please make sure to let them know if you are planning on attending).
For all Adopt a Crag events, please keep the following in mind:
Wear closed toed shoes. Long sleeves and pants are recommended.
Bring water, snacks, and extra layers for the elements.
Be prepared to be challenged, work hard, and gain sending karma points!
