Join Allied Climbers of San Diego to fix sections of the trail up to Middle Earth. We will be installing steps, digging out drains, reestablishing trail out-slope, installing trail armoring, trimming vegetation, installing signs, planting, carrying materials, and more. Volunteers are responsible for knowing their own physical limitations, the safe usage of tools, and being aware of the environment (sun/heat, rattlesnakes, ticks, poison oak, etc). Volunteers work at their own pace and receive training on each task.
Meet at the Middle Earth trailhead for coffee and safety briefing. This is the south end of the climbers loop trail, the end closest to the visitors center. Park near the visitors center and walk in since there is limited parking at the trailhead.
Please wear clothes suitable for outdoor work (long pants, long sleeves, work gloves, sun protection- hat, sunglasses or safety glasses, sunscreen, and sturdy closed-toe shoes), and bring enough water for yourself. For more information email Ranger Dan at Dkimpel@sandiego.gov.
For all Adopt a Crag events, please keep the following in mind:
Wear closed toed shoes. Long sleeves and pants are recommended.
Bring water, snacks, and extra layers for the elements.
Be prepared to be challenged, work hard, and gain sending karma points!
