Access Fund is pleased to welcome Alexis Krauss of New York to its board of directors. Krauss is a longtime lover of the outdoors and teaching with a background in elementary education and human rights. She has been guiding outdoor adventures since 2016 and loves sharing the transformative power of nature with youth. She is also a working musician and one half of the band Sleigh Bells.

“I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity to serve the climbing community as an Access Fund board member,” says Krauss. “I look forward to continuing to advocate for equitable climbing access and I’m eager to support and advance the Access Fund mission as best I can.”

An avid climber, Krauss is an AMGA Apprentice Rock Guide and Single Pitch Instructor. She is also an outdoor educator with Wild Earth, a New York non-profit providing transformative outdoor experiences for youth in the Hudson Valley. Finally, Krauss co-founded Kinship Climbing Collective, a climbing and leadership program for New York City girls and gender-expansive youth, and Rise Outside, a New York based 501c3 dedicated to creating access to outdoor adventure for underrepresented communities through inclusive and qualified mentorship.

Krauss joins the Access Fund board of directors as the organization works to rally America’s 8 million climbers in the work to protect and conserve the land, fight for sustainable access, and build a community of climbing advocates. As threats to the climbing landscape escalate, climbers must be willing to tackle big challenges in order to protect the outdoor climbing experience and the lands the community holds dear.

“I look forward to learning from my fellow board members and developing relationships with Access Fund staff,” Krauss adds. “As a longtime member of the Access Fund, a climber and rock climbing guide this truly feels like a dream come true.”

The Access Fund Board of Directors establishes organizational policy and ensures that the organization's mission and vision are fulfilled.
