I have to say, I’m continually amazed by how many changes the climbing world has seen since I first tied in back around 1993. The exponential rise of climbing gyms, the growth and visibility of cornerstone brands, and the surge of innovative newcomers have reshaped the scene. Every day, more new climbers head outside for the first time, and it’s no surprise that land managers and stakeholders have growing concerns. After all, climbing has transformed from an underground pursuit to a full-fledged Olympic sport in just a couple of fast-moving decades. Through it all, Access Fund has been right there with us—at the forefront of advocacy and action for our community.
Access Fund embodies the grit and understanding it takes to support the climbing community, because they are climbers, just like us. I’ve hauled rocks side by side with them, building steep stairs at the Creek. I’ve been filled with admiration and respect seeing their organization and turnout on volunteer days at the New or Lover’s Leap. I’ve joined them in Washington, D.C., learning how to lobby with some of the best and most dedicated allies American climbing has. For fifteen years, I’ve seen firsthand that Access Fund makes things happen. But they need everyone who benefits from their efforts to help them keep it going.
Right now, Black Diamond is matching every donation up to $75,000 from climbers like you, like them, like US, to help protect America’s climbing. Donate today and they’ll double your contribution to support Access Fund’s work.
The protection and conservation of the places we climb is a big job, and Access Fund is—as always—prepared to represent climber’s interests, because that’s exactly what they’ve done for decades. With your support, they can continue in their diligence to build and repair sustainable trails, purchase at-risk crags, represent our interests in Washington, D.C., and support over 120 Local Climbing Organizations around the country.
At such an important point in our collective history, our community could go either way: towards crag closures and unchecked decline, or down the proven, sustainable path that supports new advocates who can help reinforce our political bearing. Your support helps ensure Access Fund can continue to support us all.
Donate today, and Black Diamond will instantly double your contribution, sending 2x the funds to protect America’s climbing.
Climb on,
