Climbers in Quarantine: The Weekly Stoke (3)
Are we there yet? Are we there yet? Are we there yet? No?….Ok, we’ll just go back to binge-watching climbing videos and trying to find new ways to keep from going soft. On the upside, the majority of the climbing community is CRUSHING IT with #stayathome, and all of us at Access Fund are super proud of your sacrifice. We got this! Now for the good stuff.
Climbers Stuck at Home: Photo of the Week
Ok folks, new challenge: combine training with chores. Ready….set….go!
Indoor Training Freebies
We hope you have good streaming, because the live workouts are blowing up this week:
- Gnarly Nutrition athletes host free workouts to keep you in top form—from grip strength, to core, to balance and flexibility. They even have strength training for skiers, injury prevention for runners, and conditioning for Jiu-Jitsu (that’s like karate, right?).
- EVO Rock + Fitness has a robust line of live stream yoga, with multiple classes throughout the day to fit your busy quarantine schedule.
- Brooklyn Boulders is also offering a slew of live stream classes, which were featured in Morning Brew yesterday (so they must be good).
Entertaining Tidbits
There may or may not be a poop theme from this point in The Weekly Stoke forward. Don’t say we didn’t warn you.
- So, this one time, a climber sh*t his pants and then Tosh O made him famous. According to photographer Cedar Wright, this is the most horrific and hilarious climbing experience he’s ever witnessed.
- Like most climbers, Nate Kenney was disappointed that his trips were canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Unlike most climbers, he made an epic film about his quarantine adventures: Shred It in Place. Strap in folks, this is not your typical kitchen traverse.
- Yaaaaaaas! Why not a music video with Heel Hook Harry? And where the hell did he find all of that toilet paper?
- Listen to host Chris Kalous go all fan-boy in Enormocast #81 where he interviews the legendary climber (and Access Fund board member), Peter Croft. Hilarious! And a great way to distract yourself during the cardio grind.
- Mountain Project forums are fertile grounds for entertainment if you’re willing to work for it. Check out 7 Hilarious Times Climbers Called You On Your Sh*t.
