One day, out of nowhere, a “For Sale” sign popped up in front of my favorite North Carolina bouldering area. I’d been climbing in this beautiful, forested patch of the Blue Ridge Mountains for years. Now a multi-million dollar vacation home sits right in the heart of the climbing, locked within a gated community.

Right now our country is losing natural, open spaces—and the climbing areas that call them home—at a staggering rate.

But we can do something about it. When that “For Sale” sign pops up in front of your climbing area, one of the most powerful forms of conservation is to buy it outright for everyone to enjoy, forever. That’s where Access Fund comes in.

We are the only nationally accredited land trust dedicated to protecting and conserving climbing landscapes for public access—giving climbers the ability to go head-to-head with land developers.

For the next 10 days, Black Diamond is matching all gifts from climbers like you to protect the places we climb and ensure equitable and sustainable access for generations to come.

Sadly, my favorite North Carolina bouldering area couldn’t be saved. But with your support, we can save the next crag.

Will you stand with us to make sure that more climbing areas don’t become the private playgrounds of a privileged few? When you donate today, you'll instantly DOUBLE your contribution to this critical work.

We must stand ready to respond to these threats—to protect the land, water, and wildlife habitat that make climbing landscapes so special—or we risk losing them forever.

Sincerely,
