Do you feel overwhelmed when you think about the widespread environmental challenges we’re facing?
I’ll be the first to admit that it can feel like an impossible uphill battle. In 2021, a fire devastated over 220,000 acres in the Sierra Nevadas, including my favorite local climbing area, Lover’s Leap. This spring, record snowfall and flooding washed out roads and cut off access to climbing at Bishop and Yosemite.
No matter where you live and climb, we’re all seeing these changes—from worsening wildfires to dangerous rockfall to startling changes in the ecosystems that climbers love.
Access Fund is focused on solutions to protect the climbing landscapes we love, but we need your help to scale efforts to:
Work with lawmakers in Washington, D.C., to protect public lands and advance climate action.
Buy threatened climbing areas that are about to be sold off for resource extraction or development.
Roll up our sleeves and work in the dirt to restore climbing areas and help them adapt to a changing world.
This summer, our Conservation Teams worked alongside more than 80 volunteers to restore Lover’s Leap, helping to preserve biodiversity and develop recreation infrastructure that will allow sustainable access for generations to come.
The environmental challenges we face may be too big to tackle alone, but we can make progress if we face them together.
Will you join us?
